How the shortlist is produced
The picker scores each model against the task you choose, the budget signal, and whether you need a very large context window. It uses the same provider-published specifications summarized in TopicVerge’s model comparison, then returns the highest-scoring candidates rather than claiming that one model is universally best.
Use the shortlist to decide what to test, not what to buy. Run the same representative prompts through each candidate, review quality and refusal behavior, record latency, and replay expected traffic through the cost calculator. Preview models and provider limits can change without notice, so confirm availability and current documentation before production use.
